Behind our house, Lost Creek flows year-round, and along with a lot of us, we have a deep moat that provides drainage for half our subdivision.
At the junction of these two, I have a bridge over the drainage ditch that is about ten feet high, followed by a wooden walkway along the banks of Lost Creek. There is no house on the hill on the other side. A narrow clearing follows the drain on the side, where the county laid a sewer line to serve another subdivision.
As I stepped along my property line, looking at the distant bank that is too steep to climb, I thought how nice it would be to have a suspension bridge to cross the corner of the trench and drain. A large tree with deep roots in the bank may perhaps provide support for one end of the bridge. Many times I consider the possibility when I visit the back yard.
A few days later, we had several storms and strong winds that took down some dead limbs. I lowered several loads of branches along the walkway to my fire pit, and then noticed something strange near the bridge. When I proceeded to examine it, I was surprised, that the large tree which I consider to have support for the suspension bridge, is perfectly flat and above Lost Creek. I have had other trees in the past that fall into the drain, but were broken at an angle with the top broken and landing in the drain. They are now rotten and lying on the water.
God provided the perfect bridge that I had dreamed of few days before. Now I started thinking about how I would build a safe walkway on top of a big tree as I started fixing two sections of the walkway that were thrown into the root by the roots as the tree fell.
Every day I see how God protects me and tells me about all the mini-miracles that a friend and I talk about. I could tell you about the many falls and close calls I had made and working in the yard. Looking back, I know that God has sent angels to protect me. I am very happy that I accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior at a very young age.
